Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
